Aligned Authenticity in Business: Are You Actually Being Yourself?

Aligned Authenticity ?! Let’s Get Real for a Second…

When you show up in your business—whether on video, in meetings, or through the content you create—do you feel completely yourself? Or do you catch yourself slipping into a role, saying what you think you should say instead of what actually feels true?

I see this all the time. Entrepreneurs start out fired up, full of passion, only to find themselves caught in a web of strategies that just don’t feel right. They follow the “gurus,” chase trends, and apply cookie-cutter formulas that promise success. But somewhere along the way, something shifts.

They start feeling disconnected. From their work. From their audience. And, worst of all, from themselves.

The High Cost of Faking It

Last week, I had lunch with a friend and ran into someone I deeply respect—an entrepreneur who has completely transformed her niche in Slovenia over the past two years. She built a school, created educational programs, and cultivated a strong, engaged community. From the outside, it looked like she had it all figured out.

But as we talked, I casually mentioned that I’d noticed a change in how she presents herself online. She sighed and admitted that she had recently switched marketing agencies.

Why?

Because the last agency had been writing scripts for her videos—scripts she was supposed to read and pass off as her own

Every time she hit record, she felt it in her gut. Something wasn’t right. She had outsourced not just her content but her voice. And while everything looked polished, deep down she knew:

This isn’t me.

And guess what? Her audience felt it too.

In today’s digital world, people are bombarded with content 24/7. And while slick marketing might grab attention for a moment, it’s authenticity that keeps people engaged. It’s what builds trust. It’s what makes a brand stand out.

Does Your Business Model Actually Fit You?

There’s no shortage of business strategies out there. But the real question isn’t, Do they work? The real question is:

Do they work for YOU?

If your business feels off, take a moment to reflect:

  • Do you enjoy the way you show up in your business, or does it feel forced?
  • Does your marketing excite you, or does it drain you?
  • Are you following a strategy that aligns with who you are, or just doing what you think you should be doing?

Why I Refuse to Do Scripted Videos

Here’s the thing—I hate recording scripted videos. I can do live sessions, interact with people, feed off their energy. But put me in front of a camera with a prepared script? My inner voice immediately rebels:

“Are you seriously talking to yourself? What is this nonsense?”

If you’ve ever seen one of my videos, you probably know exactly what I mean. Sure, I can push through when necessary, but I would never structure my entire business around something that feels unnatural.

That’s exactly why I’ve never created pre-recorded online courses—neither in Slovenia nor internationally. It just doesn’t fit me.

But live interaction? Engaging with people in real time? That is where I thrive.

So I built my business around that.

Are You Running a Business That Drains or Energizes You?

One of the fastest ways to burn out? Building a business based on what you think you should do instead of what actually works for you.

I’ve seen business owners completely restructure their offerings—not because they weren’t making money, but because the way they were working was exhausting them.

If you wake up dreading your work, it’s not necessarily your business that’s the problem. It might just be how you’re running it.

Beware of the “Expert” Who Sells a New Niche Every Week

I can’t tell you how many times I see entrepreneurs jumping from one trend to another, convinced that the next thing will be the magic formula for success.

In fact, I’m on an email list of someone who “reinvents” themselves every single week:

  • One week, they’re a network marketing expert.
  • The next, they’re teaching crypto investments.
  • Suddenly, they’re a sales funnel guru.

And every time, they claim this is the game-changer.

Look, diversifying your income is smart. But chasing every shiny new opportunity at the expense of your core strengths? That’s a fast track to inconsistency, confusion, and burnout.

Stick to What Actually Lights You Up

I invest in crypto. I know my way around the space. But would I ever teach it? Nope.

My knowledge is solid for my own decisions, but I wouldn’t take responsibility for guiding others.
It’s not my passion. It’s something I do, but it’s not the foundation of my business.

And that is the point. You don’t need to jump on every new trend to be successful. Instead, double down on what you’re already great at. Lean into what excites you.

Your Business Should Feel Like You

The strategies that actually work—long-term—are the ones that align with your strengths, values, and energy.

When you build a business that’s truly yours:
✔️ Your marketing feels natural.
✔️ Your audience connects with you.
✔️ You don’t wake up dreading your to-do list.

Check Yourself: Are You In Alignment?

If you’re unsure whether you’re building a business that actually reflects you, ask yourself:

👉 Am I running my business in a way that energizes me?
👉 Do my clients see the real me—or just the version I think they expect?
👉 Am I building something sustainable, or just copying what worked for someone else?

The Real Secret to Success? Being Unapologetically You

Success isn’t about following the same blueprint as everyone else. It’s about finding what works for you—and then owning it.

There’s no one right way to run a business. The only right way is the one that allows you to show up as your most authentic self.

So, if something feels off, maybe it’s time to pause, reassess, and realign.

And everything else? Well… that’s a conversation for another time. 😉
