LinkedIn – Why now is the best time to be on LinkedIn and why you mustn’t miss this opportunity

Why is now the best time to be on LinkedIn?

When LinkedIn started, it was a kind of online resume database. Nowadays, LinkedIn is a place where business goes to do business. Still, many people have this misperception about the platform. They couldn’t be more wrong.

  • A TOOL where you can research companies, and people working in companies, you can follow the trends and be up to date with the latest in your industry and elsewhere.
  • It’s the PRESENCE you build online for yourself. By posting different content on your profile, you build up your expertise and give other people the chance to find you online.
  • Of course, the center is your PROFILE. It would be best to consider it your landing page and make it enjoyable, so people like to drop by because you are giving them value. Your profile is the tool you connect with people.
  • The next step is engaging and building relationships with your connections that will bring you OPPORTUNITIES. Engagement is you commenting (quality comments) on other people’s posts, exchanging messages with them, recommending them…
  • As you do all this, the last step we aim for is LEADS that convert into paying clients.

It’s pretty easy, isn’t it 😉

You have to know that on LinkedIn, there are different people than on other platforms (Facebook, Instagram); therefore, you need to structure your messages differently. Also, people’s mindset is different; if they are on Facebook to have fun and share their life, they are on LinkedIn for business opportunities. Remember that you aim to get quality comments with your posts, give value, and convert people to your clients.

Those of you who have been using Facebook for a long time will understand that LinkedIn is now at the level Facebook was in 2012 as far as the organic reach goes. There are approximately 830 Mio people on LinkedIn Worldwide and around 200.000 in BiH at the time, and only 1% of them are active on the platform. This situation ensures the considerable visibility of your posts and comments.

I still haven’t figured out why, but Google loves LinkedIn; if you write articles or long posts and use the keywords, you will show up high in Google search results. So be sure you use the SEO rules when writing your text and take advantage of this situation.

Being active on LinkedIn will also give you opportunities to get featured (instead of paying for publishing your articles) and yield speaking engagements and other invitations.

Also, LinkedIn values QUALITY over QUANTITY, helpful content, proper connections, quality comments, and engagement.

When it started, you could get to the All-Star profile status; once you reached 500 connections, you now have to have the essential parts of your profile filled out correctly. But don’t let the fact you came to the All-Star status full you; you should optimize your profile if you want to do it right. I will leave this topic for next time.

Although LinkedIn has been around for almost 2 decades, I’d say it’s still pretty new, and given all the facts, if you are still not on the platform, don’t wait anymore.

  • If you are not convinced, here are some reasons:
  • At the moment, it is the business social media platform with members who are willing to do business, and you can’t find on other platforms,
  • The algorithm is still good, and if you provide quality content, it will push it,
  • There’s not much competition compared to other platforms, so you don’t have to post that often (once per 24 hours), and you still get visibility.
