Why is it essential in post-Covid times to have an optimized LinkedIn presence even if you are not actively engaging?

In the past month, I started collaborating with an international corporation present in 30 countries. Their goal is to take advantage of everything LinkedIn offers and use it as a tool to inform & engage with existing clients and leads, drive brand awareness and, of course, increase sales.

Of course, the first step is to train the employees about the platform. We started with heads of marketing and half of them have already completed the training and are seeing results with their activities, which is excellent for them and the Corporation. After finalizing the training, they talked to their teams about it and inquiring who would join the training next. And as everywhere, there were some objections. The employees don’t see the benefits of their presence on LinkedIn.

It’s normal to have objections. People don’t know the platform and only see it as an additional task added to their workload. Honestly, there will be extra work, but if they learn how to do it the right way, employees will get massive results in investing just 10 minutes per day in it.

And of course, there are benefits for the employees. Several benefits. In one of the past articles, I talked about the ‘What is in it for me’ filter? So the employees need to know the answer to that question.

First, the company will most likely invest in their training about the platform. Although it might look like a hustle at the beginning, the minimum result is an optimized profile that ensures higher social visibility. And the profile remains with the person, even if they decide to leave the company. As well as the skills to use the platform correctly.

Usually, companies that decide to invest in this kind of marketing have a good reputation, and employees love to be associated with it. So by setting up and optimizing the profile for the company’s needs, employees are building their professional reputations. People will perceive them as the go-to authority in their industry regardless of the association with the company. When their network – customers, partners, etc will respond positively, it will affect their confidence and credibility, which is a huge benefit.

By sharing company content, the employees will show they care about the company and drive brand awareness for the company and future growth… This way, they will actively contribute to the company’s increased sales, which may (depend on the payment method) result in a bonus for them.

The employees’ network may look up to them. Because of who they are and their positioning, it may impact future hires for the company. It is always nice when someone comes to you and says they’ve applied for a position because of you; they’ve seen you and admire you, so the decision was easy. Isn’t impacting other people a great compliment?

The reasons mentioned above were the ones that company employees should consider when objecting to join LinkedIn.

If you are a solopreneur or your company isn’t investing in this marketing, the reasons you should join and at least have an optimized profile are:

Giving other people a chance to find you and yourself to be discovered online. Many times when we come in contact with a person, we Google them. With an optimized LinkedIn profile, you’ll be the first hit in Google. What do you want people to see? It’s up to you.

Positioning yourself as an authority in your field by showcasing your work, successes, results, sharing client’s stories, recommendations…

It’s an endless possibility to connect with people; with the limit of 30.000 connections and no limit in following you may easily reach your target people.

It is the most trusted platform amongst people and you are missing out by not being present.
